Hit-tat-soo & Port Alberni — Today the Ucluelet First Nation Chief & Council, Hawiih and Constitution Committee announced that on Saturday, June 16, 2007 the Yu-cluth-aht Constitution was approved by the Yu-cluth-aht people.
The Yu-cluth-aht Constitution was passed with a percentage of 68.8% "yes" and 30.6% "no."
With two polling stations and the option of mail in ballots for members living away from home, 46.3% of Eligible Voters came out and voted.
On Friday, June 15, 2007 the Yu-cluth-aht people were asked to make an important decision regarding the future of our nation; as a result of that decision, the Yu-cluth-aht people are now one step closer to their independence & opportunities afforded by the Treaty...
